HI Andrew! Thanks for the comment on my blog, I really appreciate it. I really do feel for you in your situation - after all this work to be brought down by a b***** of a bug! But really you will be ok. It looks as though you have been consistent in your training so although couple of weeks off will certainly make a difference on the day, you will still finish and that's what you want. Maybe have a think about some pacing strategies -and by pacing I mean energy conservation strategies, not goal time strategies! I hope you haven't set a goal time (apart from "under the cutoff" of course) becuase it would be a pity if turned the great day of your first marathon into a pass/fail situation. My advice, for what it's worth, is REST REST REST, get better, plan for a long day (including hydration and nutrition)and go for it. Cheers and see you there :)
Thanks for the words of encouragement LBTEPA. I was planning to walk through every aid station, hydrate and consume a gel every 45 minutes. I'd be interested to hear about any other energy conservation strategies that you might have.
